Pulsed Eddy Current Testing (PEC) is a branch of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Techniques. It is
primarily applied when testing of composite materials is required. Composite materials play an important
role in various industries, thus their testing is imperative.
After the successful completion of the PC based Eddy Current Testing System and Embedded Hardware
based Multi Frequency Eddy Current Testing System during the previous academic terms, the team's
goal is to make the system more versatile and portable.
Pulsed eddy current (PEC) technique is a new non-destructive testing technology developed in recent years.
In contrast to conventional eddy current technique, the PEC technique is characterized by its frequency richness.
The exciting source uses the square wave pulse, and this pulse has a certain duty cycle. Because of this pulsed
excitation, the PEC technique has the features of wide spectrum, strong penetration and high accuracy. So, the
PEC detection technology shows enormous superiority for the testing of conductive surfaces with insulation
and protective layers.
